From The Road
EXTRA...TIMELESS!
Dear all,
Hope you are all well...it’s been a long time but unfortunately there has been nothing to tell you, until now that is. Glasgow Rangers have made it into the UEFA Cup Final and are making history for Scotland.
Let’s start by looking at the astonishing achievements of the team and the management. To beat Fiorentina in penalties in Florence was simply stunning. I feel for Fiorentina, but it’s always easier to be compassionate when you win! In this day and age of multi million pound wages and leagues swimming in the sort of money that could solve third world debt, a Scottish team getting into the last 16 or the last 8 is an achievement in itself but to get to a European Final is nothing short of unbelievable. I'm still coming to terms with the magnitude of what this team has achieved. Also, a lot has been made of how we got to the final but I remember in the last round against Sporting with Rangers playing sharp football and Whittaker dancing round 3 or 4 players and scoring a memorable goal, worthy of any game anywhere in the world. Had Chelsea, Liverpool or Man U. scored that goal then maybe things would be viewed differently.
Already my phone is ringing of the hook with friends and family, old and new, wondering if I have any sort of contact that could maybe get that precious bit of paper that admits them into a place in history - that will allow them to dine out for years to come, on that night in Manchester and expressing to anyone who will listen, how it felt to be a Glaswegian Rangers fan.
I remember the European campaign of 1992. We had just played the Albert Hall the night before Rangers went to Leeds in the 2nd leg, which would see the winners qualify for the first Champions League. We were 2-1 up from the home leg and Rangers fans were barred from Elland Road, as Leeds fans had been barred from Ibrox. We had Gary Speed sorting our tickets for Elland Road. Big Mark Hately scored in the first couple of minutes, just then, right in front of us a couple of bears jumped up and cheered, much to the disgust of the Leeds fans that surrounded us, suddenly Elland Road felt like a really bad idea, the wrong place at the wrong time, but we survived and looking back it was very much the right place at the right time. We were there, we saw, we beat the English Champions..... sweet.
It’s no different here and I’ll be there, at the Final!
Congratulations to everyone associated with Rangers on this historic achievement.

Someones Making Other Plans
I wasn't going to drop y'all a dart today but we have been just evacuated from the plane, Houston we have a problem, so what started out as a smooth running operation has turned into a bit of a pavlova. Not to worry the propeller aeroplane that has the problems will be fixed ASAP. I’m sure and we will be on board shortly.
Hope the people that saw the show last night enjoyed the set.... We are still tweaking and its good to add some different songs every night, keeps everyone on their toes, also it makes it less like a groundhog set. I like it changing on a daily basis as it makes the gigs a bit more unique or individual to the wet followers.
We know that we are now in the groove of the shows, and have set the bar, and are really enjoying the shows now, not that we were not before, but you always have some teething problems also some adrenalin and worry due to the set- list, but its enjoyment from here on in. and we hope you enjoy to......
Anyway some of us have a broken plane to mend.....

Well that felt better, Set-list sorted now, maybe a few more little tweaks, but we are thinking that we got a lot of songs rehearsed that we could change the set every night....
It’s nice that you guys are letting us indulge in some new tunes, if it was just the old songs it would be a bit cabaret as someone said to me, it’s not a juke box onstage!! and I agree !! Hope you do to, it’s probably something that when the new songs find their voice they will feel like the old friends that are East of the River or Wishing or Lip Service or sweet little mystery.....ooops not playing that one are we!!!
I feel compelled to tell you that when you text, Manchester or Birmingham or wherever you are to 82822 that there is a small charge but you do get something for it and I hope you feel as if you are getting something worthwhile..... There has been a lot of talk recently regarding the advent of music becoming free, I still trying to figure out where I stand on this, on one side I am a muso and sometimes feel that if people get their music for free from the various websites or thru' file sharing, we will eventually become redundant, superfluous , surplus to requirements, other times I think we have had it good for years and pop music is an old man now, it wasn't really meant to last this long, get a proper job.....another angle is when someone does something creative or artistic how can we value it in cash terms, I remember buying a painting in France and wanting to pay one price while the artist wanted another, who is right regarding the cost, what is it worth??
Is free music worthless music? Not for me. I'll leave it there. In the words of the lighthouse keepers "I've taken this too far”, just shut it and play yer bass!!!!
A special mention for Bens Brother as I think they are a great band with some great tunes and some nice chord changes in there and also nice guys. We wish them every success and I’m sure their popularity will grow and grow, come early as they are well worth the watch.

Eloquent Profanity, rolling from my mac power book !!!!!!! It feels great to be playing again.
Phew, first one down, always good to get the first one under your belt, I thought it went well, and I think everyone feels the same way.
Maybe a few tweaks here and there move some songs about and hopefully it will improve.
It's hard when your in a rehearsal room running thru' the songs wondering what the reactions gonny be like, especially with the new songs, but when you got an audience in front of you it makes it easier, THE AUDIENCES REACTION DOESNT LIE!!!!!
You can see and hear and feel what is going down well and what isn’t, so as we say a few tweaks and we will be there.
We are indeed here to entertain not educate and you guys are here to enjoy not endure, for me hopefully we can do a bit of all 4 entertaining, educating, enjoying and some endurance...... only joking.
We have a jingle balls event we have to attend and perform at today and then it’s a sound check, augment the set list and we're away.
Just like to add thanks to everyone who texted 82822 to get their performance of Weightless, it’s a new idea that we are trying out and hopefully you will all be happy with your unique performance.
We are hopefully going to get a good review in the Independent in the next few days. Pierre seemed like a really nice guy but it remains to be seen if he is a really really nice guy!!!! Hopefully he enjoyed the show......
We are now stuck in traffic..........
Anyway till the next time its goodbye, some of us have a show to do.

Pre-Gig Video Blog

It's Almost Time......
Christmas Time, which must mean its time to start touring, if you are in Wet Wet Wet.
Final preps are well underway and the video for Weightless has been done and it’s shaping up nice. We got a few changes since the last time we were out so hopefully that will make some of you guys happy, hopefully!!
Some new songs some old ones, some acoustic, some number 1's.......there all there. If anybody gives the game away, i.e. the set, the songs, the surprises or what kind of tight trousers we will be wearing. They will get a size ten where the sun doesn’t shine, from the Moderators........ Moderators this is your job to make sure this don’t happen!!!!
If you must talk about it make a new thread or something that people can go and look if they wish...
Right that's enough for now, some of us have a tour starting tomorrow.......

LESS......... TIME.......
Did you see
what I did there, turn around the title of our album.....OK ....... OK rubbish
really, I hope I dont start something or maybe that's a good idea XTRA TIME LESS
see how many you can find.....certainly big Gus and the Twins seem to be
making an appearance in quite a lot in the interviews.....
Today is
the release of our first single from our first studio album for 10yrs..... Man
that seems more than a lifetime away, so I thought I'd better celebrate with a
new diary update.
Things are
moving extremely fast now and the tour was fantastic, if a little short and
sweet, but keeps people wanting more I'm told.
It's always lovely to see familiar faces at our intimate
gigs, and those who I spoke to seemed to enjoy it as much as I did and I know
TC NM MP GD loved it as well. We always are a worried bunch when it comes to
playing songs we haven't played before so its a great relief that we never had
any negative feedback at all in fact to the contrary everyone seemed to
thoroughly enjoy them. Cant wait for the tour now and its great ton do these
little shows and try out some new songs 1. to break them in, & 2. to get
some feedback 3. get all the mistakes out of the way!!!
I hope you
are enjoying all the video stuff that TC has been bringing you, he is finding
his way through the programme and I think he does some fantastic work when it
comes to the video dept.
The itinery
seems to be changing by the hour but that is a great thing as it shows that we are busy and the busier we are determines how the interest in the band is. It seems we have no spare time to
think but I would rather have it that way as opposed to any other way.
I know you
some of you guys have heard the single through the live performances and our
various TV appearances, but to those who haven't then I would add that we are
extremely proud of what we have come up musically and hope that you get the
enjoyment we got making it.
Hopefully I
wont leave it as long as I have to post again as it was a bit of a talking
point with some of you guys at the gigs and it was duly noted and taking on
board.
Anyway enough for now some of us have a single to promote
love
