    Helen-C:

Unless you have a contract that includes so many minutes of free WAP time within it, then by far the cheapest way to get your download would be via your computer, whereby you would just log onto the site, put in the reference number you were sent via text, and then transfer the tune to the PC.  If you do this using your phone, and are paying for the web time, then (as far as I know) on top of the £1.50 you are charged for the tune, you will receive a bill to the appropriate amount of web time you have used, and as Caroline says, to surf the net from a mobile phone is often costly, and, you can quite easily lose the connnection and you'd have to start again.  If you have a contract phone and have free WAP time then it won't cost you any more than the £1.50 charged to your phone for the tune.  I'm not 100% certain when it comes to PAYG but it may be that you can ring the service provider and ask them to enable WAP on your number.

It's pretty easy these days to get tunes from the computer to a mobile, either via a USB, or if you are really up-to-date and your computer and phone both have it fitted, via Bluetooth, by downloading it to the computer you can also put the tune you have paid for on a disc for backup.

    Good luck.

Think there is some confusion here.

Janet is wanting one of the "Timeless" ringtones that were advertised on the leaflet included with the "Timeless" CD. You can only download this via your phone. There is no way to download this to your PC and then transfer to your phone.

The "Weightless" live downloads will not be downloadable to your phone, direct from the text message. All downloads will need to be redeemed on the Tunetribe website and saved to your PC.

People with compatible phones will be able to transfer the downloaded track from their computer to their phone.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Hi Helen,

When you refer to log on to the site, which site do you mean as I have a http address which I was sent via text? I have put this in to my computer as a web address but it doesn't recognise it.

    Cheers

    Hi Janet

You won't be able to open the web address via your computer. It is for the mobile phone to connect to and download directly.

Send an email to Indie Mobile, advising them of your issue and what they suggest you do, considering you have a Pay As You Go phone. They are the service providers for the ringtones and you have paid for something you can't receive.

    Their email address is:

    'support@indie-mobile.com'

    Cheers

Sorry to be such a nuisance Karl! Embarrassed

I have sent an e-mail as you suggested. I will let you know what they say. I am hopeless with stuff like this as I just don't have the patience to try and understand it.

Whoops, sorry, I thought Janet was referring to the Weightless live ringtone!  That's what I was blathering on about.  Anyway my blathering on might come in useful for anyone who has ordered Weightless live - although I have to say - I almost deleted the text containing the pincode the other day when I decided I'd read all my texts and could delete all messages in the inbox!  Whoops again (almost).

Come tell me all about it!

    Re: Downloads

    LOL!

I think the Wets kinda know that people are going to have deleted their texts. This is what they put in their latest news email:

Those of you who pre-ordered your live version of 'Weightless' via text at any one of the gigs during the recent arena tour will be able to redeem your track the day of release. Most importantly, you will be sent a reminder text message with all relevant information as to where you need to go online to download your track. (If you missed this at the gigs, you can still pre-order the live versions now!)

Don't think this concept has been explained very well, in that the download is not going to go direct to peoples phones and they can use it as a ringtone straight away.

I assume we will get a few messages on here about it!

Get those USB cables or bluetooth switched on so the track can be transferred to all those phones!

    Re: Downloads

I've thought a bit more about Janet's problem as well, and I reckon if she has mate who has free WAP time, or if she is prepared to pay her mate the bill for the amount of time it takes, it would be easier for that mate to use the link, which Janet could forward by text, download the song, and then for them to transfer it to Janet by Bluetooth.  Probably not the best solution, but as Janet has paid for something she can't get, it would only be downloaded once, and her mate could always delete it from her phone then, so it would hardly be file sharing!!

    Re: Downloads

So, the story continues - Finally I decided to take Run from the Timeless cd, load it on to the computer and change in to an MP3 file and load it on to my phone which my hubby kindly did for me (He now has Run spinning around in his head! Wink). The next issue I face is how I set the tune as a ringtone on my phone from the digital audio player as it doesn't seem to give you any options to do this!

Any ideas anyone? I have looked in all my phone menu and settings.

    Re: Downloads

    Janet

With a little Googling, I found this:

Possible Problem:  The songs you transfered to the phone are too large to be used as ringtones.  From what I've seen on the RAZR, the maximum size useable for RINGTONES is between 500kb and 600kb.  Otherwise, the phone WILL NOT allow you to use it as a ringtone.

Okay, think there are three solutions:

    1) Lower the quality of the file when you convert to MP3
    2) Use an audio program (like Audacity) to chop some of the song bits out and use a section of the song as a ringtone.
    3) Sell the RAZR Big Smile

    Hi Karl,

How did I guess you would be on the forum to come to my rescue! Thanks for your suggestions.  I think option 3 is the best!! Big Smile How would I go about lowering the quality of the file when converted to MP3??

I will try it later today or tomorrow as I am going out shortly. You must dread another post under this topic!

    Cheers

    Re: Downloads

    Hi Janet,

I had the same problem as you, but all I did was convert the tracks to MP3 format, plugged my RAZR into the computer, and in the Motorola menu instead of trying to transfer it to the phone by the 'File Transfer Studio', I went to the 'Melody Studio'.  I was then able to transfer the whole track to my phone without cutting anything off.  The biggest problem I have is that I have 'Still Standing' as my ringtone and I don't want to answer my phone while its still playing.  Big Smile  Once I had transferred it to my phone, I was able to just go the multi media section on the phone and you have the option to save it as a ringtone.
