    Here and Now.

Hi Guys, I went to see the 'Here and Now' tour at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, last night and wanted to say how fab it was!

We saw, Cutting Crew, Johnny Hates Jazz, Curiousity Killed the Cat, Abc, Paul Young, Bananarama and Rick Astley.

I've never been to one of these tours b4 and was surprised at how good it was.  We were up on our feet dancing from 7.30 til almost 11.  The shows highlights for me were Paul Young (the guy flung himself around the stage like he is still 25!) And Rick Astley, who was brilliant!  His voice was showstoppingly fabulous, I was just sorry that they only had about 30mins each, I could have stayed all night Big Smile.

If you get the chance to catch any of these shows, I'd totally recommend it, I spent 4 hrs last night transported back to being 15 again (but without the spots and hormones, lol).

Ps.  The brand new Echo area is great, a venue that I can't wait to see The Wets in Wink, smaller than the M.E.N but big enough to get a good croud in, about 10,000 I think.

    Hi,

Glad you enjoyed it. A few people went from work to Manchester on Tuesday night and had a great time. They even got dressed up 80s style! I went a few years back to Sheffield and thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was when Carol Decker and Kim Wilde were on.

Have a great time on Friday Amanda -- I am a bit older than all of you so my era was the 70's -- I went to one of these reunion tours a couple of years ago that was Bay City Rollers, David Essex, Osmonds and David Cassidy -- David Cassidy was my teenage hearthrob and I used to have posters all over my wall and ceiling but I never got to see him live.

In those days you either liked David Cassidy or the Osmonds but not both and even though I enjoyed DC on this tour I thought The Osmonds were absolutely brill -- so much energy in their routines -- I would recommend anyone to go to one of these shows that can take you back to your youth (whatever decade it was !!)

    Love

    Helen

Hi Helen, Don't know how old you are but I'm 35 and can just about remember the Bay City Rollers. My mum used to buy me most of their records when I was little and I've replaced them all with the CD versions now. There's obviously something about Scottish groups that I like!! WinkBig Smile One of the girls I work with is off to see the Osmonds at Sheffield on Friday - she's 49 years old so can remember them v well from when she was a teenager.

Hi Caroline - I am 47 (but in my head I am stuck at 26 whch is how old I was when I got married and first discovered WetWetWet)) -- I know what you mean about scottish people having an attraction -- as well as the Wets and the Rollers I also have a passion for Rod Stewart (I know hes not strictly Scottish but he wishes he was) and I also like Ami McDonald at the minute !!

    Re: Here and Now.

I've always wondered what one of these 'here and now' shows would be like - so it's interesting to read your comments.  As for the BCR's well I have to say, when I was very young I loved them - when I hit secondary school my mum agreed, albeit reluctantly, to let me go on the proviso that she came along as chaperone.  What a night it turned out to be - Halifax Civic Theatre - I went suitably clad in the white 'skinners' trousers, with tartan down the sides, sporting my "I love Woody" necklace, and with numerous tartan scarves tied round my wrist, and the most hideous platform shoes in the world (red with tartan I think they were).

We had seats somewhere down the front of the stalls, but it was that disorganised we never saw them, those who had queued all day, just rushed in, ran past the staff, and straight down to the front, the stalls got packed, and we got ushered to the circle - back row of - to be precise.  So I spent the whole concert stood on the back of the seat (and I mean the very back of the top of the chair), frantically waving my arms about at Woody - mum spent all night with her back to the stage holding me on the back of the chair as I refused to get down - but it all ended a bit tragic because the orchestra pit gave way at the front and a few fans fell in it and were injured.  We left in a rush - got told off by the police for trying to head to the dressing rooms - we weren't we were just trying to get out of the melee - and my mum was mortified - and even more so the next day when we were on the front page of the local paper stood in the queue waiting to get in!!

What a night.  After that - I never got to see the Osmonds, I couldn't get to Manchester Apollo on my own and mum refused to take me again!!  Still I've made up for it since.

Come tell me all about it!

    Re: Here and Now.

Sounds like you had a ball Nicola. With little me being a bit younger I only caught the tail end of the 80's music wise, the 90's was more my era. Retrofest in Glasgow is doing a bit of this decade aswell so will probably get tickets nearer the time if the weather is looking good. Bring on Peter Andre!!! lol

If any of you are interested there is a new 'Here and Now' album soon to be released - go to the link and scroll down a wee bit for track listing.
