THIS WEEK: Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow cheated a little by editing his last three choices, skipping past Bonnie Raitt and BowWow, to find some idiosyncratic and distinctive vocalists and performers.
Dusty Springfield - Dusty In Memphis "I think she has one of the great voices of all time. She has such vulnerability in her voice and songs. But you can put on her music 40 years down the line and it still sounds fresh to me."
Beck - The New Pollution "I think as an artist he is hard to ignore. He's a bit kooky and I love his voice even if it's not technically the best because it's got a wee bit of character."
Eels - Eels with Strings Live at Town Hall "This is an amazing live album. Here is a boy who is all man about his music. It's amazing stuff. I watched a fascinating documentary on him recently and apparently his dad was a very famous physicist."
Marti Pellow performs at St David's Hall, Cardiff, on Wednesday, April 30. Tickets cost pounds 27.50-pounds 30 from 029 2087 8444.
