Well, last night was something else !
Chess is a musical with a difference & I was a little apprehensive at what to expect. However, I was soon engrossed in a fabulous mix of performing arts by an array of stars and thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening.
Although sat at the side of the arena floor we had ideal seats, almost identical to where I'd been for the Teenage Cancer Trust - Girls Night Out show. What was classed as 8th row turned out to be 2nd row which gave the most perfect view. They were every bit as good as I remembered if not better and almost made me feel part of the show.
Marti did himself very proud with some difficult yet unique songs which he mastered admirably despite a few sound problems initially. He was on stage for longer than I was expecting, which was a bonus & fitted perfectly into the company - in fact I could say 'just like a glove' !!
The other stars who also deserve a mention are Josh Groban, Adam Pascal, Idina Menzel, Kerry Ellis, David Bedella & Clarke Peters who were also outstanding.
Every aspect of Chess had me in awe of the mass of talent in the show; the choir who actively & ably took part, the choreography, the band/orchestra, ensemble and each individual star who all obviously put everything into making a wonderful & spectacular event.
I heard many complimentary comments of Marti, amongst others, from fans of the musical and other artists when leaving the show.
It was an honour to be at such an amazing prestigious show in what is always such a classy venue.
Oh & good news, looks like a film crew were filming it for US TV & a potential DVD for release later in the year.

Is it just a dream?, or am I just a dreamer.
