Please be patient with me because I know that this has been addressed before but I cant get the solution to work for me --

I am wanting to add a picture under my post as a 'signature' -- I have worked out how to do the writing bit but cant work out how to get any of my photos in there too -- a previous post has step by step instructions but they say something about using a link with img at the start -- my photos are in 'mydocuments/my pictures' on my harddrive and are all just labelled by as (for example) marti or marti on stage etc, and dont have a link as such that can be copied to the signature within my profile.

If you can help the instructions will need to be in words of one syllable that a three year old can understand but I would be greatful for any and all suggestions,

You will have to host the pic that you want to use on a hosting site like Image Shack first - if you follow the instructions on that site, you will then be given a direct link for your pic and you just have to put the image tags ('[ img]' and '[ /img]' - without the spaces after the first '[') - before and after the direct link and put that in your signature.

e.g.  If I host a pic that is called 'wetwetwet' from my computer on Image Shack, the direct link that I am given on Image Shack is http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/5217/wetwetwetgy6.jpg, so that's what I would copy and paste into my signature with the image tags either side of it - so I would put

[ img]http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/5217/wetwetwetgy6.jpg[ /img]

into my signature, but without the spaces after the '['s.

You can also host your pic on Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) but I personally have never used that site.

It might be the type of pic that is the problem - on Image Shack it says:

http://imageshack.us/

allowed: jpg jpeg png gif bmp tif tiff swf < 1.5 megabytes.

Can anyone assist me please?  I was registered on the old board, and am wondering if I have to re-register?  Although I can post, I don't seem to have any option for a signature or avatar ?  Or am I just being thick?!

I think you might need to go into your profile (by clicking on your username at the top of the page) and then click on 'Site Options' and make sure that 'Display user avatars' and 'Display user signatures' are both ticked 'Yes'.  That will enable you to see other users' avatars and signatures, anyway.

If you click on 'Signature and Bio' and 'Avatar', you should be able to upload your own.
