    Newmarket Races?

Is there any chance of another gig at Newmarket Races this year???

I've got my tickets for Bryan Adams, but would love to see the Wets there again............

    Re: Newmarket Races?

You made my heart skip a beat then!

I thought it was news that they were at Newmarket again.

Somehow I don't think they will be able to fit it in with Witches and Marti's solo stuff, but you never know....

    It would be great though.

Only 2 acts confirmed so far (bryand Adams and UB40), so plenty of space left.

Yes UB40 were on there first but they have changed it into James Morrison now.

Would be great if the Wets would be doing this again Big Smile

    Re: Newmarket Races?

    Slightly O.T.

The reason that James Morrison is now playing Newmarket instead of UB40, is probably 'cos of this bombshell from UB40 lead vocalist Ali Campbell, a couple of days ago..

"The reason for me leaving the band, after  nearly 30 years is that management difficulties, which have been ongoing for almost five years, had become intolerable.

"I have been deeply unhappy with administrative practices and with many decisions that have been made in recent years, and I have an ongoing investigation into the handling of my business affairs in relation to UB40.

"Suffice to say, I felt I had no other option but to resign from my band."

    Back on topic.

..I've just found this on the Newmarket Racecourses website.

(sorry, if this had already been posted, but it's the 1st. time i've seen this)

    Newmarket Nights 2007 Review

Newmarket Nights 2007 saw the best line up to grace the July Course stage in celebration of their 20th anniversary.

Australian Rockers INXS opened the season and were the first act to play on the redeveloped July Course on Friday 22nd June.

British girl group, the Sugababes, returned to the July Course for their second Newmarket Night performance on Friday 29th June. They performed some of their best-selling hits including the comic relief number one single ‘Walk this Way’.

On Friday 20th July, Madness performed to the biggest Newmarket Nights crowd ever. Their sell-out performance went down a storm.

80’s duo, The Pet Shop Boys, debuted at the July Course on Friday 28th July, wowing the audience with their dramatic stage show completed with multimedia video presentations, dancers and a number of costume changes.

Jools Holland returned for his 11th year at the July Course with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and special guests Lulu and Ruby Turner on Friday 3rd August. Performing to an almost sell-out crowd, Jools cemented his place as a Newmarket Night favourite.

Friday 10th August saw another Newmarket Night favourite Ronan Keating returned for his 3rd consecutive year, replacing the originally billed Ordinary Boys.

The season ended with a bang as Marti Pellow and the rest of Wet Wet Wet performed to an almost sell-out crowd on Friday 17th August. Performing some of their best known hits including ‘Love is all Around’, Wet Wet Wet drew rave reviews from many Newmarket Nights regulars.

    Re: Newmarket Races?

I don't think James Morrison is playing Newmarket instead of UB40 - they were playing a different night - as far as I know, there hasn't been a decision over the UB40 Newmarket gig.  UB40 are supposed to be carrying on as a 7-piece band without Ali Campbell.

    Re: Newmarket Races?

Oh my friend will be really disappointed about UB40 - she loves them and saw them at Wembley a week before we both went to see Wet Wet Wet.

Only told her last night that they were on at Newmarket.

Just looked on the website and James Morrison is on 25th July, UB40 were on the 18th, but they are not listed anymore.

    Still hope for the Wets!

    Re: Newmarket Races?

I really enjoyed Newmarket last year.  It was a great atmosphere and I managed to get right at the front.

It would be fantastic if Wet Wet Wet played there again this year Big Smile

    Hi Ange

I loved it too, I way up front with my mate Kristy and few other friends. Kristy and I got on the Dvd at Newmarket that were a complete surprise. U can viedw either via Too Many People single or can view via my site on Marti Video Tube page,on Video 70 or 71, I haven't actually numbered the videos, but count them down and its on the far righthand side. But the page were given problems the other day, it may be working now. But any future videos I will have to create another page I think.

I hope they do another one but with Marti's busy solo project schedules I don't know, but surely there will be a short break after Sentimental Tour, Because Marti is free after April, until he does Witches Of Eastwick in August.

Anyway Ange take care, Love Karenx

    Re: Newmarket Races?

That would be perfect if Marti could squeeze smething in, maybe at the end of June (near my Wedding Anniversary would be good!)

I know they won't be able to do the final night again like last year - but any night would be great!

    Re: Newmarket Races?

I emailed Newmarket and got a reply this morning - not the news we wanted I am afraid:

Thank you for your email.  We are pleased that you enjoyed the Newmarket
Night featuring Wet Wet Wet.  Unfortunately, we have no plans to have
    them back for 2008.

Thank you once again for your feedback.

We hope this clarifies the situation for you.

    Re: Newmarket Races?

That's disappointing news...but then we knew Marti would be busy with Witches.  Maybe next year !
