Yesterday I took part of a famous pink ribbon run (De Marikenloop) in Nijmegen, a city in the eastern part of the Netherlands. Alltogether we raised € 16.000,- to fight against breast cancer. So I had a nice run and I run for a good cause, a good deal isn't it!?
For me it was my first 5 kilometer run since, I think, 15 years. On my ipod shuffle I put a lot of music, most of it was (ofcourse) Wet Wet Wet/Marti Pellow
. I started with Run, then All I Want, Tell You All About It, I Believe. And it was so great running with this music!! It gives me wings, the Wets make great runningmusic: not too fast, not too slow. In my head I had a time of finishing within 30 minutes but I thought that would be a hard deal. But surprisingly I finished after 27 minutes and 15 seconds. From more then 1500 runners in my category I finished as 334e!! YIPPEE!!
Not bad because I started running last January!
Do you have in the UK this sort of running events?
If you run, do you run with music? And if so, what kind of music/ what songs do you like to run with?
My next target? The 10 English miles in September (Dam tot Damloop) and maybe you will bring me on some good runningmusic ideas!
