FAO Admin - PLEASE, PLEASE can we have a Marti forum?
There was a time when it was thought that things relating
to Marti's solo career should not be posted on this site at all. Thankfully
that has changed. I think that there are many people like myself who don't have
a lot of spare time but like to check the forums for any news. We are very lucky
that people post on here when they come across anything new (and old things
that we might have missed!) about Wets and Marti. However, I feel that it is
wrong that Marti related threads have to be posted in amongst "general
chatter". If some posts are now being moved so that they don't get mixed
up with the Marti stickies, wouldn't it make sense to give Marti his own forum?
At least then those of us that only come on here for news about Wets and Marti
wouldn't have to trawl through irrelevant posts. Surely it would help the
moderators too as then they wouldn't have to move so many posts. Currently
there are lots of posts relating to Marti's solo work and that will only
increase once he starts in WOE, therefore I really think that a Marti forum is
warranted. So Admin, can we have one PLEASE?

Re: FAO Admin - PLEASE, PLEASE can we have a Marti forum?
Hi Lynn, By coincidence the Mods and Nico have been talking about this on our private section last week.. Debbie brought up the "broke Away"section again. Nico said she would suggest it to the Wets management and see what they think. It would be a "general section" were we would be able to talk about all the Wets and not Marti alone, which I can understand because this is afterall a WetWetWet site and forum, although she does know it would be mostely Marti that would be discussed on it . I also asked if this is going to happen if GD could be included aswell . We will now have to wait and see what the management thinks about this, so keep everything crossed.
cause everytime you go away, you take a piece of me with you. Graeme Duffin site: http://www.graemeduffin.eu

Re: FAO Admin - PLEASE, PLEASE can we have a Marti forum?
I totally agree there should be a separate area on the forum to chat about the boys solo projects. All the guys (including GD ) do their own thing separately from their Wets commitments, and many off us support them in this as well as the band stuff. So it would be great to be able to discuss all their achievements either collectively or individually. Their individual talents should be able to be discussed and celebrated as well as them together as Wet Wet Wet. There are some fantastic sites run by fans for individual Wets, and I would want these to continue alongside any new section on this forum, perhaps the new section, if it happens could have a link section to all these fantastic sites, that have had so much work put into them. xxx

Hi Lynn I totally agree with u Lynn. It would be easier for Marti to trawl through the posts, than having to go through the whole section. Love Karenx

I also think it's an excellent idea to have a seperate forum for solo
projects of the guys. Fingers crossed the management will go for it!!!
Thanks for posting Lynn

Re: FAO Admin - PLEASE, PLEASE can we have a Marti forum?
I have to agree re. a separate folder for solo projects for the guys - it would be a good step in the right direction. I thought it was the best idea brought up on here months ago when it was first mentioned, and was sorry that it never happened. A folder for topics purely relating to all individual projects of any of the guys (including GD) does would be a brilliant addition to this site. I have to add though, in addition to being sorry that the 'broke away' forum never materialised - and I hope that this is now going to be allowed to happen - I am also sorry that Marti never got his own website up and running properly. It was a great interview he gave this weekend on Norwich t.v. in which he spoke very enthusiastically about all his multi-faceted projects, the jazz, the musical theatre, the one-off projects like Chess (and I think I detected the world 'film' in there too), as well as the friendship and enjoyment he gets from playing as a member of the band. Then there was the Norwich Evening News interview - where he had 'checked out Norwich online' so, that suggests he can't be that adverse to the internet - and whilst he may not be as 'fired up' about having his own website as he is about music and being an entertainer - for us Marti fans the net - is a big part of our entertainment, it's where we need to 'check out Marti online'!! Just as I do with this one, I absolutely loved Marti's site when it had a forum on it - that's where I first got to know so many other fans - I'd been in the wilderness without a computer prior to that - and on occasions actually missed things because of a lack of communication of any sort except the net. The Mardi Bar completely passed me by due to lack of a computer - and when I went in there during the day at work - I felt extremely lonely! Thankfully that's now rectified. I appreciate there is a Witches of Eastwick official website - but I assume that is owned by Cameron McIntosh and is unlikely to have a forum. At the minute it just shows the dates and where the show is appearing up to the end of this year. We are lucky that we have so many fans on here who are good at 'googling' or whatever and have the time and patience to do it, but you can't beat getting first-hand 'official' information, it would make all our busy lives so much easier - so I just wish Marti would 'slither under the door' of the world wide web - and get out there. One further point I would like to add - if the 'broke away' forum goes ahead, it might be a good idea if, in the title of any new posts, it states the name of the band member(s) to which it refers, as I know there have been discussions on here in the past where maybe some fans of one member of the band, wouldn't want to trawl through posts about another member etc. I'd personally be interested in them all. I hope someone is listening - and can't wait for the changes guys!
Come tell me all about it!

Hi Helen Its a good idea like u said that each member should have the name on it, and if it refers to the whole band then should be separate. I hope it goes ahead a chat room would be great too. I use to love the Mardi Bar on Marti's old site back in 2001. I remember Marti coming into the Mardi Bar. I hope management see this Helen. Yeah the interview Marti did on Anglia Tonight on Friday were fab. Lets hope this happens! Have a great day Helen! Take Care Karen-Marie www.thewetswebsite.piczo.com

If there is a possibility of a new section being added, could it not have a sub-section for each member. Most other band websites have this. I tend to miss out on alot of the Marti news on here due to having to trawl through the general chat threads. Fingers crossed for some improvements soon.

Re: FAO Admin - PLEASE, PLEASE can we have a Marti forum?
I agree that a separate forum for the guys’ solo ventures would be a great idea. Marti has had so much going on in the recent past and a lot more to come that it would seem ridiculous for it to all have to go in the Chit Chat section! During his Sentimental Me tour it wasn’t easy to find everything relating to it in amongst the other posts. I’m sure lots of us are interested in any ventures the rest of the guys are involved in outside the band, too (including GD). It would also be great if we could be officially informed of anything that they’re doing, although I don't want to undermine the great job everyone does of finding and posting about articles etc.! I agree too that it’s a pity Marti hasn’t got his own website functioning and making use of the internet, but that’s another story!
You're really too muuuuuccchhhhh!!

Re: FAO Admin - PLEASE, PLEASE can we have a Marti forum?
I would like to agree with everything that has been said on here. My one concern is how many people look on this Wets Website hoping to find out what Marti is up to, and leave thinking there is no information available, simply because it is hidden under different topics. I have felt very strongly for a long time that Marti’s solo career is not being publicised/marketed enough. I know we have all said that we don’t understand why Marti’s Official Websites have never succeeded in terms of being kept upto date., and in my opinion it is far worse to have a website that appears to have been abandoned, than to have no website at all. I guess we will never know the real reasons, but it is so frustrating when there are people on this forum who are able and more than willing to take on the job on Marti’s behalf. There are many fans who work tirelessly in providing upto date information for this forum,, and those who work relentlessly on their own websites for both Wet Wet Wet and Marti, to raise their profile and spread the word in the best way they can. In the absence of an Official Marti Pellow Website I strongly feel that the Wet’s Management should dedicate an official area for Marti and for the other members of the band, so that anyone looking at the website will quickly and easily be able to find out the information they want. I really hope the Wets Management agree to this, and it seems an ideal solution to a really frustrating problem. For anyone out there listening – The Internet is such a powerful tool, let’s make the most use of it............. I am still mortified that I missed Marti’s first solo tour – purely and simply because it was before my internet days, and Marti wasn’t touring locally so didn’t hear through local advertising, and didn’t buy national papers as didn’t have time to read them etc. etc, and of course didn’t know any Wets fans elsewhere in the country at that time. Not sure I’ll ever feel easy about not being there for him.
